Follow these rules and enjoy fresher breath, stronger teeth & bones and the eternal admiration of your peers:
PLAY NICE
Vigorous, witty debate is fun, and stimulates us all. Obnoxious, vindictive personal attacks are a drag, and bring everybody down. Remember, it's perfectly cool to assail someone's logic or point of view, but ad hominem attacks are verboten. A simple rule:
Don't write anything that you wouldn't say to someone's face.
Of course, it goes without saying that racial, ethnic or gender-preference slurs will not be tolerated. Profanity is OK, though in the wrong hands it tends to make the poster look uneducated/inarticulate/dopey (and our filters will insert asterisks in suspect words as needed).
THINK BEFORE YOU POST
It's easy to get caught up in the heat of a discussion, and fire off a devastating reply that is highly offensive. Before posting, take a moment to collect your thoughts, take a few deep breaths, have a Fresca. Then calmly unsheath your intellectual scalpel and dissect the opposing argument with surgical precision. Much more impressive than rants and tirades.
CHECK YOUR SPELLING
Your credibility can quickly be damaged (or even destroyed) by a few innocent misspelled words. Fairly or not, people tend to judge one another by things such as spelling, grammar and punctuation. So take a few seconds to double-check your message before posting it -- you'll be glad you did.
HAVE FUN!
At the risk of sounding sappy, these forums are truly meant to foster a sense of community and mutual respect. We hope you enjoy talking motorcycles with fellow enthusiasts, and make some good friends in the process!
Ride well,
