Getting Around MotoEssence

Overview
Our goal when designing MotoEssence Magazine was to incorporate sophisticated functionality while keeping the user interface as simple and intuitive as possible. Our solution entailed dividing the magazine into five sections (plus the Home page). On every page you'll find navigation buttons that correspond to these sections:

Home
This should always be your starting point. Here you'll find a handy yellow sidebar listing the ten latest articles on the entire site. Newcomers should first view Getting Started with MotoEssence, and then read Getting Around MotoEssence. The Home page's center section features brief descriptions of newly-added articles, as well as updates/news about the site itself. To the right is a small, green sidebar that shows the ten newest Topics in the Forums (this sidebar appears in all sections of the magazine except the Forums).

[Note: The Archive link at the bottom of the Home page's yellow sidebar displays a listing of the magazine's three Archives: Columns, Reviews and Features.]

Columns
There are two general series of Columns: The Newbie File, which as you might guess caters to new riders, or those who are thinking of becoming motorcyclists; and Flotsam and Jetsam (from the stream of consciousness), which covers just about everything else(!). Other Columns series are in the works. Stay tuned...

[Note: Unlike the Home page, here the yellow sidebar contains the ten most recently added articles in the Columns section only. Older articles are listed in the Columns Archive (see link at bottom of sidebar).]

Reviews
This section contains a variety of reviews covering a broad range of motorcycling products and services, ranging from newly-released motorcycles to aftermarket parts & tuning services, riding gear, rider training schools, books & videos, etc., etc.

[Note: As above, the yellow sidebar contains the ten newest articles in the Reviews section only. Older articles are listed in the Reviews Archive (see link at bottom of sidebar).]

Features
Here you can find special reports (such as our long-term series on the 2003 Suzuki SV650), technical analyses of bikes and specific technologies, company and personality profiles, bike retrospectives, memorable ride reports, ad infinitum.

[Note: As above, the yellow sidebar contains the ten newest articles in the Features section only. Older articles are listed in the Features Archive (see link at bottom of sidebar).]

Market
This an ambitious attempt to detail the leading products in a broad variety of categories, from helmets and boots to exhaust systems and tires. As you may have noticed, Market is still under construction! We'll keep you posted on its progress...

[The structure of Market is somewhat different than Columns, Reviews and Features, and as such Market doesn't require an Archive.]

Forums
The fifth section of the magazine, the MotoEssence Forums, is an online community that offers many opportunities to interact with your fellow subscribers. You can set up a group ride with friends, engage in a friendly debate on the merits of a specific motorcycle, or just chat about current events

An additional Forums feature: At the end of every article you'll find a TalkBack! link. One click will take you directly to the Forums Topic that corresponds to the article you've just read. You'll be able to post your reactions to the piece, as well as read and respond to feedback from other subscribers.

Tell Us What You Think!
We hope you enjoy both reading the articles in MotoEssence Magazine, and navigating throughout the site. Please feel free to share your thoughts and opinions by visiting the Suggestion Box at the bottom of the Forums page. Thank you for your interest!

.

Note: If the above button fails to close this window, simply click the box in the upper right corner (Windows users) or upper left corner (Mac users) of this window.
